Last week we took part in the annual Neighbourhood Food Collection at Tesco South Road and Riverside. The response we received was staggering as we collected 4.5 tonnes of food in addition to £1000 cash donations. We are overwhelmed with the generosity of the people of Dundee. We know this is an expensive time of year and are so grateful to those who were able to help out with a donation.

This is typically our busiest time of year as temperatures drop and many people are forced into decisions between heating and eating. The rollout of universal credit in Dundee last month has also increased pressure on our stock levels and this collection has been crucial in helping us keep up with demand.

We’d like to extend a huge thank you also to all the volunteers that helped out at the collection. Grove Academy provided pupils on each of the three days we collected. The pupils were fantastic and a real credit to their school. We also received support from Cadburys/Mondelez, Soroptimist International and the University of Dundee Basketball team. This, in addition to our regular volunteers made the collection a huge success.

We simply cannot function without the support of the public and our volunteers. So thank you once again as we strive to ensure that no-one in this city goes hungry this Christmas.
